Peter Rachtman will be returning to the US, but will maintain ties with Australia and NZ. MIAA
American-born New Zealander, Peter Rachtman is turning in his boat shoes and stepping down from his role as Regional Sales Manager for Genmar, the parent company of Four Winns, Wellcraft, Glastron, Larson and a bevy of additional major boat brands.
Rachtman, the founder and former head of MAREX, New Zealand’s highly successful export group, started with Genmar five and a half years ago when their boat sales into Australia were just a trickle.
Genmar’s retail sales in the Australian market are confidential, but insiders claim they now exceed AUD$40 million a year.
After living in New Zealand for more than 20 years, he moves later this week back to the US where he has bought a home in Corrales, New Mexico.
He expects to remain with Genmar until a replacement is found and will be back in Australia for the Sydney International Boat Show.
For Rachtman, this is not ‘retirement’ as he plans to consult with Australian and New Zealand companies regarding exporting to North America.
Genmar is now actively looking for his replacement and Rachtman has agreed to assist in the initial approaches to the company. The territory includes Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands.
Interested parties can contact (in complete confidence) Peter at peter@rachtman.com with copies of any communication directly to Veer Beri at Genmar International in the USA (vberi@genmar.com).
Peter will also be available on his mobile +64-21 703-700.
Rachtman says it’s now, “Adios, mates” and “G’dday, Amigos!”
