Rydge and Scarr finish third at FD Europeans

by Richard Scarr on 8 Jun 2008
FD Europeans 2008 - - image by Tadej Maligoj SW
Only one race was started on the last day of the Flying Dutchman European Championship in Croatia. It was later abandoned due to shifty winds.

The final results showed the Australian team of Norman Rydge and Richard Scarr finished in third place, behind the 2007 World Champions, the Danish pairing of Jorgen Bojsen-Moller and Jacob Bojsen-Moller, with Hungarians Majthenyi and Domokos second.

As Richard Scarr reports to Sail-World:

'The last day of racing saw only one race started then abandoned due to massive wind shifts.

During the race the leaders Jorgen and Jacob Bojsen-Moller (Den21) were in trouble rounding the topmark in the 50s, with second placed Szabolcs Majthényi and András Domokos of Hungary also rounding close by.

We rounded 14th and stayed there till the race was abandoned. If the race had been shortened it looked like AUS37 would have moved up the ladder.'

So the final results - First Den21, second Hun70 and Aus37 in third.

Thankyou to every one for SMS we have received over the last few days.

Richard Scarr.'
