by Joint release ninemsn.com.au and sail-world.com on 19 Dec 2001

In the lead up to the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, Mr Paul Andreacchio, Executive Producer of ninemsn Sport, today announced that the ninemsn sports coverage would be expanded to include sailing.

The decision to include sailing in the line-up of ninemsn sports coverage follows strong lobbying from the sailing community who were looking for an Australian sports news site that could provide the level of comprehensive coverage sailing enthusiasts want.

'Sailing is a popular sport that attracts a significant amount of interest - particularly at this time of year in the lead up to the Sydney to Hobart race,' said Mr Andreacchio.

ninemsn.com.au will be taking the latest news from the largest sailing website in the Southern hemisphere, www.Sail-World.com

'Sail-World is a good fit for us because they wanted to provide sailing enthusiasts with an easier access to sailing news,' said Mr Andreacchio.

Mr Rob Kothe, Principal of Sail-World, enthusiastically supports the partnership.

'ninemsn has an 80 percent reach into the Australian online community and this partnership is a great move for promoting sailing because it makes sailing information more accessible to people online,' said Mr Kothe.

'Australia's sailing successes in the 2000 Olympics and major world sailing events like the Volvo Ocean Race, the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the America's Cup are increasing interest in sailing amongst Australian sports fans. It is great to see ninemsn expand their coverage to take us on board'.

The ninemsn sailing coverage will include interview transcripts, video footage downloads, weather and race analysis.
