Miss Geico breaks offshore world records

by Businesswire.com on 16 Jan 2008
GEICO sponsored catamaran Miss GEICO and AMF Offshore Racing made history when they became the first offshore racing team to hold four world championships simultaneously.

Miss GEICO’s trophy case now displays championship cups for the Super Boat International World Champion’s, the Pacific Offshore Powerboat Racing Association World Champion’s, the Offshore Performance Association World Champion’s and the Offshore Super Series World Champion’s.

Reaching maximum speeds of more than 185 miles per hour, the bright yellow, 44-foot powerboat decorated with a bikini-clad gecko spent much of the 2007 offshore racing season leaving competitors its wake. Miss GEICO collected 10 first-place overall finishes, four world championships and a slew of prestigious records, including the world speed record in powerboat racing, 188.24 mph

'We have exceeded our expectations in the water,' said Vince Giampietro, sales promotion and events manager. 'In a short period of time, Miss GEICO has become one of the fastest boats on the water. And now Miss GEICO is the boat to beat in offshore racing.'
