Sailors in Chichester Harbour took the opportunity to work off the Christmas Day excesses by taking part in the annual 'Winkle of the Harbour' open handicap race in aid of the RNLI which was hosted by Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club.

The morning started with zero wind so the scheduled start of 12 noon was delayed. With a short triangular course in light winds, sixteen boats enjoyed some close competitive racing. The MRSC Finn Fleet dominated the race with eight out of the nine Finns participating taking the first eight places.

After the racing the competitors enjoyed the hospitality of MRSC with mulled wine and mince pies where the prizes were presented by Elaine Barnett, Vice-Commodore's wife and Junior Secretary.
