Fireball plan active pre-worlds winter sailing

The UK Fireball fleet are planning an active winter, with the World Championships in Thailand in March 2008, there will plenty of activity from those looking to get in some racing practice before the boats go in the container.

Are you are new to the class? and want to get on the pace before the open meeting season kicks off, or do you just fancy a great day out, and a chance to catch up with a few mates. Whatever the your motive this winter, there are loads of fireballing opportunities.

Handicap events;

The UKFA are delighted to recommend the following events which are normally well attended by fireballers and many others keen dinghy sailors. All these events have had Fireball winners over the years. It might be your year!

Sunday 30 December - The Grafham Grand Prix - Grafham Water Sailing Club (Handicap)

Saturday 12 January - The Bloody Mary - Queen Mary Sailing Club (Pursuit)

Saturday 26 January - Steve Nicholson Trophy - Northampton Sailing Club (Symmetric Doublehanded Handicap)

Sat/Sun 3 and 4 February - Tiger Trophy - Rutland Sailing Club (Handicap Saturday and pursuit Sunday)

Sunday 9 March - The Hoo Freezer - Hoo Ness Yacht Club (Handicap)

Draycote Water - Pinnell & Bax Winter Super Series:

Draycote Water are again running the Pinnell & Bax Winter Super Series from November until March. Over 35 entries for the past two winters. Join for the whole winter or pay on the day. Dates for your diary are Sundays;

Another record fleet of 28 boats On 11th May, Frensham Pond Sailing Club staged their 2025 Solo Open Meeting as part of the Superspars Solo Open Series. A total of 28 boats took part in what was another record for the Solo ?eet at Frensham.

Medway YC Cruiser Spring Series race 4
Amongst the fleet there were various tack-for-tack battles going The start was from the Medway Yacht Club line and with a strong incoming tide, and a beating start against the tide meant competitors needed to make a choice on which side of the river to start.
