IMS 670 World Championship- Corinthians at the top

by MCC McCamp on 19 Oct 2007
Corinthians at the top of the (IMS 670) World: skipper Jesus Pintos Ager - Corinthians at the top of the (IMS 670) World MCC McCamp
For second time in a row, Spaniard Jesus Pintos Ager, with Navantia (X-37), has won both Overall and Corinthian classifications in the IMS 670 World Championship (Anjoca World Cup, September 2007, Sanxenxo, Spain)

This triumph in the IMS World Championship (Anjoca World Cup), gotten the 23rd of September, it must be added to other excellent results which Jesus Pintos has achieved in IMS 670 during 2007 (second Overall and first Corinthian in the 26th Copa del Rey) and 2006 (first Overall and Corinthian in World Championship; third Overall and first Corinthian in the 25th Copa del Rey).

Jesus Pintos Ager (Juris Doctor and Doctor of Laws, Carlos III University Professor, and advisor in the Ministry of Justice of Spain) is the Skipper and General Manager of the Navantia Project. Part of his success is ought to he has been sailing with almost the same sailing team during the last six years:

Roi Alvarez, Trimmer, Project Leader and Financial Manager of Navantia
Javier Aguado, Mainsail Trimmer, Tactician
Bruno Gusano, Navigator
Joan Fullana, Mastman
Pilar Mesa, Piano, Navantia Logistics Chief
Juan Filgueira, Cockpit
Eloy Ruiloba, Bowman

The Navantia Team is being coached by Robin Imaz, member of the boat ONO (MedCup TP 52).

In a world in which sail racing is getting more and more professional, it is a very good news to know that some of the teams at the overall top are Corinthians.

In the IMS 670 World Championship (2007 Anjoca World Cup), the amateur team Navantia (X-37) of Jesus Pintos won to more than 30 boats from eight countries. The second place was taken by a long time rival, the professional team Turismo Madrid (X-37) of Jose M. Van der Ploeg (1992 Finn Olympic Gold Medallist, and six years [1991-1996] between the top three in Worlds and Europeans Championships of Finn).

The third place was for the also professional team Movistar (X-37) of Pedro Campos (1992-2000 America’s Cup Skipper and five times in a row [1990-1994] 3/4 Ton World Champion).
