Roscioli Hotels Roma are no Damp Squids!

by Martin Allerton on 1 Oct 2007
The inclement weather may have put paid to the second leg of the Powerboat P1 Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea but nothing could dampen the celebrations of the newly crowned world champions in SuperSport and Evolution.

Roscioli Hotels Roma, the Italian outfit of Angelo Tedeschi, Fabio Magnani, Ugo Pellegrino were declared winners of the Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea following their outstanding performance in yesterday’s first leg thus securing them the 2007 Powerboat P1 SuperSport World Title, beating British team Buzzi Bullet by 100 points. In a season packed with drama that saw three leading contenders look capable of winning the title, the Mercruiser-powered Chaudron of Roscioli Hotels Roma achieved 8 podium finishes including four outright wins.

King of Shaves, the Ilmor-powered Fountain powerboat was the dominate force in the Evolution class. The British pairing of James Sheppard and Craig Wilson having set new standards this season, with six race wins and a world crown in their debut season. The Italian challenge of Giancarlo Cangiano and Giovanni Carpitella in the Sterling-powered Donzi was strong, alongside the all-American Lucas Oil Outerlimits team, but neither team were able to match the performance of Sheppard and Wilson.
