More European Melges 32 Racing set for Barcolana

by Event media on 26 Sep 2007
TABOO and FAST FORWARD, two of the new MELGES 32 class - Rolex Big Boat Series 2007 Rolex/Daniel Forster http://www.regattanews.com
After the great success of Italy's Centomiglia with Francesco Martino on 'ITA-161 Action Team' winning the class division, the Melges 32 fleet marches onward to beautiful Trieste for the Barcolana Regatta and sail show, 11-14 October 2007.

'Due to high demand, the Melges 32 will be in Trieste available for viewing dockside and it will be racing too. We invite everyone to stop by and view this incredible sportboat, ask questions and see it up close. Everyone wants this boat. It's fun, fast — I promise you will not be disappointed,' said Federico Michetti, president of Melges Europe in anticipation of a large turnout. Michetti and his team will be onsite supporting competitors including 2007 Centomiglia Champion Martino with legendary Italian helmsman Lorenzo Bressani.

A very special thanks to Francesco Martino as this event has been organized with his assistance. The 'Action Team' will have a booth so be sure to visit, as well as speak with Melges Europe representatives about the fastest growing fleet of performance yachts in the world. Brochures and additional promotionals about the Melges 32 will also be available.

ABOUT THE MELGES 32

The Melges 32 is pure speed, simplicity, function and fun in ultra high performance one design racing.

The Melges 32's sleek hull shape measures 31 feet, 10 inches in length and possesses a powerful sail plan with an asymmetrical spinnaker. Along with a very clean deck layout, other high-tech, cutting-edge features include a carbon fiber spar, rudder, bowsprit and vertical keel fin. Easy to launch via hoist or ramp, it is equipped with a gin pole and can be rigged without the assistance of a crane to step the mast.

Manufactured by Melges Performance Sailboats in Zenda, Wi, USA, the Melges 32 is distributed by Northshore Yachting trading as Melges Asia Pacific in Australia and Melges Europe in Milan, Italy. The Melges 32 is also designed by world-renown Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design, Inc. in San Diego, California and crafted by Paul Amon at SOCA Sailboats in Trinidad. It is supported globally by the International Melges 32 Class Association.
