Percy and Simpson (GBR) lead Star Europeans

In race two of the Star European Championship being held at Malcesine on Lake Garda, Britain’s Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson won, ahead of Fredrik Loof and Anders Ekstrom of Sweden, with Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira of Brazil third, to take the overall lead.

The original overall leaders Diego Negri and Luigi Viale (ITA) finished in tenth place dropping them to second overall behind Percy. Grael moved into third place.

In the second race on Tuesday, race 3 in the series, the British pair finished in second place behind Loof and Ekstrom, and go into the Lay Day on Wednesday with a 12 point lead after three races out of six completed.

Third in the second race and moving into third overall were Flavio Marazzi and Enrico de Maria of Switzerland. Coming back into contention were Peter Bromby and Lee White (BER). Third on the opening day, they were 16th in the first race Tuesday but recovered to a third in the final race to hold fourth overall.

Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira (BRA) had a third and a 16th to finish fifth overall and sixth place goes to Francesco Bruni and Gilberto Nobili (ITA).
