49er Europeans get underway in Marsala, Sicily

49er Europeans, practice race 49er Class Association http://www.49er.org
Circolo Velico Marsala is host to the 49er European Championships involving a total of 66 crews. Not only are they providing the 49er sailors with a beautiful sailing venue with views across the Mediterranean; they are also providing superb host facilities and location.

Amongst the star names on the entry list are reigning Olympic Champions Iker Martinez and Xabier Fernandez, World Championship silver medallists Nico Delle - Karth and Nikolaus Resch (AUT) and world #1 crew Jan-Peter and Hannes Peckolt (GER).

Following the practice races Sunday, racing starts for the qualifying series of races until Wednesday. Then the final series of races will take place between Thursday and Saturday with the Medal Race on Sunday.
