Island Brand - New Economy Products

by Cruising Editor on 6 Sep 2007
Caframo Camano SW
As sailors, we first came upon the Island Brand when given some cleaning fluid by an American cruising friend: 'This stuff is like gold,' he said effusively. 'It will clean anything, even your grandmother's teeth.'

We didn't try it on grandmother's teeth but we did find the cleaner excellent, and economical. Now the manufacturer, Caframo, has launched a specifically 'economy' marine products line under the Island brand name.

'Island brand products represent entry-level choices designed to meet the needs of value-conscious boaters,' said Elliott Good, Sales & Marketing Manager for Caframo consumer products.

The first product to carry the Island name is the Camano 12 volt, single-speed fan. The compact design is ideal for any tight spot that needs some additional airflow, such as the corner of the v-berth or under a cupboard in the galley.

The Camano can be mounted up, down or sideways and has a quiet, high-efficiency, fully-guarded fan blade. A locking base keeps fan in place even in rough seas. With a low power draw, the 2,000+ hour motor is battery-friendly (sailors, take note). Suggested retail price is $US24.99.
