Welcome to the Monday edition of Sail-World.Com/NZ’s newsletter.

Over the weekend the world body of sailing, the International Sailing Federation, ISAF, celebrated its one hundredth birthday, with a series of sailing events around the world with the intention of getting everyone out sailing.

Our Saturday consisted of a trip to Whangateau Harbour, north of Auckland for the attempted launching of the Laurie Davidson designed Swooper of Cox’s Creek, now in the guardianship of my nephew who is the third generation of our family to own and cruise a yacht on the Hauraki Gulf.

Unfortunately it took three tides to get her to her mooring. But that’s all part of the fun, I guess.

We feature more grand celebrations of ISAF’s Centenary from Napier and Manly Sailing Clubs.

There’s also news from the Farr 40 Worlds, which saw Vincenzo Onorato of Mascalzone Latino fame beat Alinghi by a very healthy 35 point margin.

In Samoa the South Pacific Games are underway and we have a report and pictures courtesy of ISAF.

We also got reports on the latest arrivals in the Bavaria line-up - the 37 and 38ft edition. Orders for these will take the number of Bavarias sailing in New Zealand to over 100 yachts. Another great milestone for International Marine Brokers.
