by Jane Pares, IMB on 3 Sep 2007
Mark Thetford discusses wiring requirements for the new B37 with Michael and Vicki International Marine Brokers New Zealand www.internationalmarine.co.nz

Two new Bavaria 37 Cruisers have arrived in Auckland and will be on the water in time for the summer season.

The contracts were signed back in May / June with International Marine Brokers in Auckland and the orders immediately sent to the factory in Southern Germany. Once the boats rolled off the production line they were trucked to Antwerp and placed on the deck of a cargo ship bound for New Zealand, arriving roughly five weeks later.

New owners, Michael Hayton and Vicki Salmon, have already fallen in love with their new Bavaria 37 and are taking a very keen interest in the commissioning process. Local suppliers work to ensure the new boat is made ready for sailing. The Rigging Shop, www.riggingshop.co.nz, will install the rig; North Sails NZ Marine Trim Division take care of making the spray dodger and bimini; Global Yacht Finishers anti-foul the hull; Boat Valet Services groom the whole boat in and out before launching.

Raymarine navigation equipment is generally pre-selected by the new owners and is supplied by The Nav Station of Westhaven www.navstation.co.nz, Mark Thetford of North Harbour Auto and Marine Ltd takes care of the necessary wiring. Depending on the time of year, a new production yacht will be launched within three to five months of an order being placed.

Nine more new Bavaria Yachts are due over the next three months, taking the total number of Bavarias in New Zealand close to one hundred.
