Known as the 'likeable rogues' of country music, the Wolverines rocked the socks off sailors and guests as they performed on the main stage in front of the Marina Tavern at Hamilton Island's Race Week yesterday.
From Status Quo to John Denver and The Angels, the Wolverines kept the crowds bopping as they banged out song after song in their inimitable style.
The audience could not get enough of the band – featuring Darcy Le Year on lead vocals and guitar, Chris Doyle on keyboards and John Clinton on drums. Since forming in 1994 the award-winning Wolverines – they have won a string of accolades including an ARIA – have introduced audiences all around Australia and NZ to their unique blend of tongue-in-cheek humour, hard-hitting music and the art of having a fantastic time.
Oh, and in his ‘spare’ time, John Clinton is also skipper of Holy Cow and is currently racing in Race Week – amusing race-goers with his distinctive cow horn that he blasts every time someone sails past!
