Olympic Bronze medallist and top Tornado sailor, Aaron McIntosh reports from Cowes where his crew is about to compete in the Ishares Cup. He reports:
As some of you know, I have been given the opportunity to put a kiwi team together to race in the third round of the Ishares Cup in Cowes UK, racing the Extreme 40 catamaran.
The Extreme 40 is simply a Tornado on steriods. At 40 feet long, 1250 kg full carbon weapon and capable of speeds in excess of 30 knots. Throw eight of them on a small course and you have some of the most action packed racing on the world's yachting stage.
The Kiwi team is....
Aaron McIntosh,Helm
Mark Kennedy, Main Trimmer
Ryan Houston, Jib Trimmer
Andrew Mclean, Bow.
We will be sailing on the Volvo Ocean race boat
