The 124 boat J/80 Worlds fleet is split into four flights for a qualifying series, before being sorted into gold and silver divisions later in the week. Suprise leader is Ignacio Camino of Spain, with another spanish entry, Jose Torcida in second place.

Ignacio Camion and Jose Torcida, remain the leaders after six races. Taking advantage of a lull in the gale force winds the committee managed to get the fleets away and Camion added another two wins. Victor Lanier of France stayed in contention, also winning two races.

Kevin Sproul of Britain is in fourth overall after adding a 3, 2, 3 to his earlier, 4, 6, 2 scores. In fifth is the American boat of Glen Darken and in sixth Ulrich Muenker of Germany.
