Why was the service launched? Founder and skipper Peter Herbert says, 'We in Metmarine are passionate about boats and the safety of the sport allied to the best solutions that technology can offer. We often find we cannot get a local detailed inshore or offshore forecast in English when sailing overseas and equally rare, detailed free local outlooks for The English Channel. This was the reason for creating the service – to provide forecasts for fellow enthusiasts. Based on tests we have made covering our accuracy since 2004, the forecasts have won much acclaim from our users.'
