Raw Nerve tracks towards Indian Head SW
Triple Line Honours winner Martyn Riley’s catamaran Raw Nerve, is currently leading the 2007 Brisbane to Gladstone fleet up the Fraser Island Coast.
At 19:30 she was 38 nautical miles south of Indian Head, two sail reaching north at 20-25 knots speed over ground.
She is expected to pass Indian Head, the half way point in the 308 nautical mile race, before 21:30.
The wind pressure is steadily building from the south and is currently around 20 knots. Stuart Bloomfield (helmsman) reported by sat. phone from Raw Nerve a few minutes ago. ‘We are working hard; we know that at our present pace the predicted finish time is well within the race record. We are hoping the wind will hold for the next nine hours.'
At the 17:30 sked this afternoon Tony Considine's APC Max was 10 miles back from the leader with Keith Glover's Trilogy third.
The monohull fleet are further down the coast. The latest report was that Matt Allen's Ichi Ban passed Double Island Point at 1916, she was 15 miles ahead of Ray Roberts' Cookson 50 Quantum Racing, who was just a mile ahead of Graeme Wood's TP52 Wot Yot.
