Extreme Anchor - with Extreme Claims

by Sail-World Cruising on 9 Mar 2007
The Extreme Anchor SW
If the claims about the latest anchor from XYZ are true (that it will exceed existing anchors by from 500-900%) then it’s worth checking out.

Designed for weeds, rocks, and grass, the manufacturers claim that the XYZ Extreme will outperform any existing anchor in sand, clay and mud.

Designed for weeds, rocks, and grass, the manufacturers claim that the XYZ Extreme will outperform any existing anchor in sand, clay and mud.

Here’s what they say:

The XYZ Extreme® Anchor was designed using state-of-the-art extensive computer simulation for any possible situation and severe field-testing was done worldwide on all sea bottoms.

It is a substantial improvement from the previous model that was #1 choice of the 2006 Anchor Test conducted by Practical Sailor and Powerboat Reports magazines, the most trusted USA marine publications. The new XYZ Extreme is made of mirror polished stainless or in galvanized high tensile manganese steel.

The XYZ Extreme® Anchor has ultra high holding power in sand or mud and will exceed up to 500% of existing anchors of similar weight, and up to 900% of similar length. Its radical departure from the conventional anchor design enables instant setting, 2:1 scope, constant 360° movement and no break out possibilities.

17Lbs/8Kg. XYZ Extreme Anchor is rated for boats up to 48'/15M.
32Lbs/15Kg.XYZ Extreme Anchor is rated for boats up to 72'/18M.

These extreme capabilities are not possible with existing anchor designs.

Two Options:

— High Tensile Manganese Galvanized Steel

13.5lbs/6.5kg - $199.00

— Mirror Polished 316/304 Stainless Steel

17lbs/8kg - $597.00

32lbs/15kg - $1,197.00

— High Tensile Manganese Galvanized Steel

14lbs/6.5kg - $297.00

32lbs/15kg - $497.00

Cruising Editor’s Note: Putting out a 2:1 scope is not something that the veteran sailor is likely to do without a lot of convincing, nor is the same sailor likely to choose an 8 kg anchor for a 15 metre boat without a lot more convincing. Let’s wait and see!

By the way, the company is also offering Free XYZ Extreme® Anchor shipping to USA, Canada and Europe!
