The fully crewed Round the North Island Race starts on Saturday.
Organised by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, the race consists of two starts - two legs - two ports and two oceans. It has attracted a fleet of seven entries, however the stage is set for one of the most intriguing races staged in New Zealand, with five of the very hot 50 footer fleet entered, plus the David of New Zealand offshore racing, Jive Talkin (Ray Hasler) which will no doubt be looking to add yet more trophies to her illustrious competitive record.
Pawn Broker a Young 9.4 (Kevin Murphy) is the seventh and smallest boat in the fleet.
Leg One Auckland to Wellington begins 1100 Saturday 3 February 2007. Leg Two Wellington to Auckland begins 1400 Monday 12 February 2007.
This race has evolved out of the interest generated from the popular Round North Island Two Handed race run by the Short Handed Sailing Association of New Zealand and a demand from many boat owners keen on offshore racing.
RNZYS will also continue their partnership with the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club as host club for the only stopover. This will also coincide with the Line 7 Race Week.
