Craig takes final title - Imperia Winter regatta
by Laura Jelmini (As Amended by ISAF) on 8 Dec 2006

Imperia SW
Yesterday was the final day of competition for the Laser fleet at the ISAF Grade 3 Imperia Winter Regatta and three more races were sailed. Anthony Craig (IRL) continued his form from Tuesday to win all three races and take the title.
'Today could be a difficult day' said Luigi Rognoni, event manager of Imperia Winter Regatta looking at the cloudy sky and the rough sea. As a matter of fact the southwesterly wind was not so strong, 15/16 knots so it was possible to sail some three races for the Laser’s fleet.
It was another demanding day due to the rough sea but Roger Anthony Craig (IRL) rose to the challenge and won all three of the races sailed. Leader of the regatta since day one Giacomo Bottoli continued to sail consistently finishing fifth, second and third but Craig's string of five bullets from the eight race series was just too good. Bottoli takes second overall with Rismas Laurynas (LTU) completing the podium after he had his best days results.
The first part of the event, ISAF grade 3 ranked, for Olympic class Laser and Laser Radial, is therefore finished: starting from tomorrow until 10 December 470’s (male and female, more than 60 entries), 420’s (male and female, more than 130 entries) and L’Equipe’s teams will be racing in a new series. Tomorrow registration and practice day, on Thursday the first start will be fired at 10.30 (local time).
Motoplanet, area store of Ducati, the company established in 1926 and producing sport motorbikes featuring powerful 'desmodromics' engines, innovative design and vanguard technology will be present at IWR with brand new model 1098 from 8 to 10 December exhibit on the area where the boats will be parked ashore, on the harbour.
