Report from Australia's Richard Perini on Foreign Affair, at the Mumm 30 Worlds in Miami, Florida.

'The 30 boat fleet had some great conditions today, with 15-22 knots from the ESE and a short steep sea making upwind sailing demanding but providing great surfing and planing downwind. Foreign Affair's first race was a good one built on a solid start, staying in touch with the leaders and finishing 4th behind Mean Machine, Sixx and Cheyenne.

'Race 2 didn't go as well for us, with a shift against us on the first beat, then a collision at the top mark with Asterix who inadvertently tacked while trying to shoot the mark. We recovered to 12th after gaining a little on the second run to the finish but then had another collision with Glory trying to avoid a finish line incident. Ireland's Mammy won from Twins and Mean Machine.

'Yet another collision just before the start of Race 3 did nothing to assist our chances and we were forced to take sterns on port. A good recovery got us back in the hunt up to 9th for the finish with Mammy winning again from Groovederci and Twins.

'Mammy on 10 points leads overall after 3 races from Twins (10, FRA), 3rd Sixx (12, USA), 4th Mean Machine (14, NED), 5th Groovederci (17, USA), 6th Barking Mad (23, USA), 7th Foreign Affair (25, AUS), 8th Team BOLD (29, USA). There are plenty of protests being heard tonight that may alter the scores.

'Similar conditions expected for tomorrow, hopefully with less crashes.'
