Lagoon is proud to announce the much anticipated release of the Lagoon 420 in September at La Rochelle Boat Show, France.
A constant leader of innovation and technological development, Lagoon has produced the first production boat in the world equipped with Electric motors. The new Lagoon 420 pioneers a new generation of sailing catamarans with this clean and ecological system.
The Principle involved:
Ø Complete installation is composed of 2 electric motors connected to propellers by straight shaft transmissions, one generator and two sets of 6 batteries;
Ø When batteries are 100% charged, the boat will be able to function with both motors;
Ø When batteries are 80% charged, the generator will automatically start, charge the batteries and provide electricity for the motors;
Ø Whilst sailing, the propellers will turn freely and charge the batteries.
The Advantages:
ü Low fuel consumption with little carbon dioxide emission
ü Runs in silence
ü Only 1 fuel engine to maintain
ü Electric motors are maintenance free
ü Energy savings: the generator provides electricity for the motors, batteries and the daily boat requirements eg air condition, power sockets, washing machine etc
