Ray Roberts and his talented crew on the DK 46 Quantum Racing won the Hahn
Premium Hamilton Island Race Week IRC Racing trophy, one of Australia's
premier events attracting more than 150 of the top yachts to the beautiful
island resort.
With a very competitive class including 3 Cookson 50's and 2
R/P IRC 46's this was another significant result for the successful Sydney
team. Roberts came to Hamilton Island this year having concurrently won
the Sydney Mooloolaba Yacht Race in July and Airlie Beach Race Week which
preceded this event - the trifecta and the first boat to claim the three
titles in one year.
In the past year Roberts in his DK 46 has also won the Rolex Trophy Series,
Skandia Geelong Week and international regattas including the Kings Cup and
Royal Langkawi International Regatta with second places at the Sydney-Gold
Coast Yacht Race and Sailing South Week in Tasmania - a rather impressive
feat. Designer Mark Mills of Mills Design congratulated Roberts and his
crew on their impressive string of results in IRC 'These guys are so
impressively consistent against great competition, it's always rewarding to
see one of our designs being campaigned so well and showing off its
strengths.'
Elsewhere this weekend Tiamat the Mills Design IRC 40 recorded another win
at the Cocoon Series Irish Sea IRC Championships in Dublin, continuing a
great string of results for the current RORC IRC Championship Trophy holder.
Our latest launching is the 41' production IRC Cruiser Racer the MAT 12,
