New Zealand rowers capped off a remarkable World Championship campaign when the World under 23 Champion crew of Dane Boswell, Paul Gerritsen, Steve Cottle, James Dallinger and coxswain Daniel Quigley won Bronze in the men's coxed four.

Out to an early lead the young New Zealand crew led at the 1000m by 1/2 length over Germany and Canada. The more experienced German and Canadian crews clawed the lead back but the gritty Kiwis failed to loose their composure and held on to contribute to New Zealand Rowing's most successful World Rowing Championships ever. One Gold, Two Silver, three Bronze!!

Just as impressive was the brilliant victory by the young New Zealand Woman's eight in winning their 'B' Final ahead of super powers Russia and host nation Great Britain.

What fantastic base Rowing New Zealand is developing; 2006 has produced twelve World championships medals but more importantly thirty World Rowing Championship medal winners!!

With the FISA Congress set to award New Zealand the hosting rights to the 2010 World Rowing Championships tomorrow, the future of New Zealand rowing is in great shape.

Bring on 2007............bring on Beijing..........bring on 2010!!!

A celebration of sailing, of X-Yachts and, most importantly of all, people Having just returned from Haderslev, Denmark - which is the home of X-Yachts and played host to the X-Yachts Gold Cup 2025 - I was left wondering if this was a racing event, a rally or a social celebration amongst close friends.
