Rowing-World at the World Championships - Day 1

The World Rowing Championships started last night (NZT) on Dorney Lake , Eton, UK.

New Zealand was represented in six events, and qualified directly to the next stage in five of these.

Rowing-World has Rob Bristow on the ground in Eton, providing a daily report and photos. This is the first event for which we have been able to obtain a good supply of rights-free pictures and they make a big difference. Rob tells us that he shot over 400 images yesterday – and we look forward to bringing you improved coverage over the rest of the regatta.

Using a reporting style we have adapted from the America’s Cup and sailing, we are publishing reports on each race, composed from various sources, to give our readers a one-stop information source.

We will be updating the Rowing-World site daily as results come through, and technology permitting this should be early morning NZT. At this stage we are still feeling our way with the material and technology we have available, and intend to publish this newsletter only after a major day’s racing for New Zealand. On the days where there are only one or two events involving New Zealanders, we will just be updating the website only.

Sky TV will also be providing live coverage later in the regatta, and we will post any changes in their schedule. Rob Bristow is also posting on www.rowinginfo.info

Stay tuned!

Good Rowing!

Some thoughts on provisioning for distance sailing
A new perspective on provisioning and time spent at sea One of the great joys of distance racing unfurls the moment that the dock lines are untied. Suddenly, the myriad packing lists that inevitably define most trip-planning efforts become about as relevant as a tax return from eight years ago.
