Jon Paul Tobin reports on his plans for the upcoming World Championships and his campaign for the 2008 Olympics.

JP Tobin is currently ranked #5 in the ISAF rankings for the Mens RS:X and placed 7th (ISAF results) or 9th (Event results) in the 2006 European Championships for the RS:X

Beijing Olympic Games: 719 Days

World Championships:

World Championships, Lake Garda, Italy, 23 - 30 September, 2006

New Zealand based preparations for the 2006 World Championships have progressed steadily clocking up quality kilometers on board, bike and foot along with solid kilograms completed in the gym.

Although the temperature has at times been less than cold, the simplicity and familiarity of preparing in New Zealand has had many positive spin-offs, including regular access to the team that keep the structural integrity of the body intact following intense training sessions.

The 2006 World Championships will see the largest New Zealand contingent to ever represent New Zealand at International level.

All going to plan I will depart for Italy on the 3rd September.

Olympic Test Event

Olympic Test Event, Qingdao, China, 21st - 27th August, 2006

The 2006 Olympic Test Event will commence on the 21st August with racing coming to a conclusion on the 27th August, the test event gives both the athletes and organizers the opportunity to trial setups and structures as well as experience the unique conditions of the Qingdao Olympic venue.

Unfortunately due to financial limitations I have been unable to travel to China to compete in the Olympic Test Event subsequently focus is on performance and raising the necessary funds to compete at the 2006 World Championships.

Sponsorship

It goes without saying that to become an Olympic champion requires a massive effort on the part of an athlete.

However, in today’s sporting environment you can have all the talent, desire and commitment in the world but if you don't have the necessary financial assistance you start every race with a significant disadvantage to your competitors.

Windsurfing at Olympic level epitomizes functionality and performance in a high speed, competitive, dynamic and constantly evolving environment; clear synergies exist with those organizations that are driven to perform at the top of their game; to be the best and to be the best that they can be.

Supporters involved with preparations towards the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2012 London Olympic Games; will be associated with success, performance, energy, excitement and action.

For more information on how to get involved and the exclusive opportunities available for you as a supporter please contact JP Tobin to receive a comprehensive proposal that can be supplied in either digital or hardcopy formats.
