As celebrations continue to mark the Enterprise fleets 50th birthday, their Association announces superb support for the forthcoming 50th Anniversary World Championships from sponsors.
Already 113 boats will travel to Looe in Cornwall this weekend to take part in the Championships (29th July – 4th August), but organisers Looe SC and the Enterprise Association say they have room for some late entrants.
With fabulous gear, goody bag prizes and Chandlery support from Speed Sails, Pinnell & Bax, Dinghy Sailing Magazine and Holt, late entrants and sailors competing at the event are in for a treat!
The Enterprise fleet has a record of attracting top sailors to its major events and this year’s World Championships are no exception. With such great names as Richard Estaugh, Ian Southworth and Nick Craig competing, racing is sure to be superb!
Richard is four times Enterprise World Champion, Merlin Rocket National Champ and GP14 National Champion on numerous occasions and Nick Craig was Enterprise Champion in 2003, OK World, European and UK Champion, Finn National Champion and RS400 National Champion.
Ian Southworth holds European and UK Championship titles in J24 and is the UK Foxer Champion. Ian has won the 18ft Skiff Europeans, GP Nationals on 3 occasions, the Lark and 420 Nationals and the Endeavour Trophy 4 times.
Excellent social events at Looe have been planned and will culminate on the final Friday evening with a very special 50th birthday ‘The Word is Blue’ disco, where competitors are being asked to mark the occasion by wearing something blue. So appropriate as the Enterprise fleet is know world-wide for its brightly coloured blue sails!
