Images of the salute to Auckland by Gipsy Moth IV, as she left for an overnight voyage on one of the coldest days seen in Auckland for some time.
From here she will leave on a ship for Sydney arriving on the scheduled date, and ready to continue the remainder of her circumnavigation.
For the farewell event today, Gipsy Moth was accompanied by the three Navy yachts and the classic launch, Lady Gay.
Two Auckland tugs gave a fire-pump display and escorted Gipsy Moth IV the length of the Waitemata long with the yachts, Lady Gay and a TV News helicopter.
