by Simon Forbes on 10 Apr 2006
The fifth race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club’s Spring series was held on Sunday 9 April and saw a north-westerly breeze averaging 10 knots, gusting up to 18 knots.

The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat off the Netley shore. Due to the wind shifting racing got underway 25 minutes late.

Third place went to Jacob MacKenzie’s Evolution 22 Glass Onion. One race remains in the series with La Nef IV holding a 4 point lead over Richard House’s Laser 28 Wacky Racer III.

Class 3 Club Class saw Nick Margee’s Beneteau 40.7 take line honours but victory on corrected time went to the Contessa 32 A Tout Vitesse (Chris Smith). Second was Peter Slimming’s Hunter 30 Anne Louise and third Ian Townend and John Cooper’s Hunter 707 Tigerfeet. Overall in the series Andrew Campbell’s Bavaria 44 Faze 3 leads by one point from Anne Louise with Tigerfeet a further two points behind.
