Dragon - XIII Prince Henry The Navigator Trophy

Sponsored by PT Comunicaçoes, the XIII Prince Henry the Navigator Trophy finished today at Clube Naval de Cascais. Clube Naval de Cascais and the Portuguese Dragon Association will host the XIII Prince Henry the Navigator Trophy and the XI H.M. King Juan Carlos I Trophy.

These two Regattas are included in the 5th IBERIAN DRAGON CHAMPIONSHIP, the first event was completed over the 2 to 5 March.

The competing fleet numbered eighteen boats from Portugal, Great Britain and Switzerland and included well-known international sailors such as Denmark’s Medal-winner Poul R. Jensen, Germany’s Medal-winner Vince Hoesch, and Britain’s Martin Payne, together with the Portuguese Pedro Beckert, Francisco Lacerda, António Mardel Correira and Henrique Anjos.

After six races the winner was Denmark’s Whisper, crewed by Poul Jensen, Peter Bowring and Paul Mcguire. The runner-up was Portugal’s Catarina III crewed by Henrique Anjos, Pedro Costa Alemão and Afonso Marques, and third place went to Germany’s Gaudium, with Ulli Libor, Peter Froesch, Vince Hoesch.

The second event will take place from the 16 to 19 of March - The XI H.M. King Juan Carlos I Trophy (7 races).
