New IMS North European IMS Championship

by Event media on 2 Mar 2006
From June 2006 the HSH Nordbank blue championship will be the new and joint IMS ranking list for all Baltic countries, including Norway.

'The joint initiative of the Northern European offshore representatives shows the potential, which lies in the idea’, says Eckhard von der Mosel, co-initator of the championship and head of organisation for the final races. ’We expect top-class racing in close proximity of the coast line, which will be broadcasted daily by Danish television TV2.’

Elegible to participate in the final races on Bornholm island are all IMS yachts, which register at the start of the season 2006 for the international ranking list ‘HSH Nordbank blue championship’ and participate in at least two of the below listed races.

The winner of the finals carries the official title of the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) North European IMS Champion 2006.

The finals of the HSH Nordbank blue championship will be sailed just off Allinge on Bornholm Island, 21 - 24 September. Organisers are well-known clubs in Skandinavia: the Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub (KDY) from Denmark, the Kungl Svenska Segel Sällskapet (KSSS) from Sweden and the Kieler Yacht-Club (KYC) from Germany.

Points from the following races will count towards the HSH Nordbank blue championship:

9-11 June Volvo Suursari Race, Espoo, Finland
8-11 June Faerderseilasen, Oslo, Norway
17-25 June Kieler Woche, Kiel, Germany
2 July Eurocard Gotland Runt, Sandhamn, Sweden
23-29 July Swedish IMS Championship, Marstrand, Sweden
8-13 August IMS World Championship, Neustadt, Germany
