New RYA website.... and it works

by RYA / G New on 15 Feb 2006
New RYA website Gerald New http://www.sail-world.co.uk
After a year in development, the notoriously slow Royal Yachting Association website has been given the kiss of life - well at least a decent makeover - and it does seem to be possible to log in before the server times out now.

There is a fresh look and lots of promised improvement in finding your way around. The old site put the Hampton Court maze to shame in leading you up blind paths for the simplest of requests. The new menus are big and bold and with an improved site search engine will hopefully remove some of the old frustration.

The web shop gets a higher profile and will feature an extended range of books and other items including the RYA's new range of training gift vouchers and advertising will also be introduced for the first time.

As well as providing information on the vast range of RYA services, from training courses to advice on the legal aspects of running a club, one of the most important elements to the site is to attract new people to the sports and pastimes the RYA represents.

RYA Web Editor Jake Frith explains, 'We wanted to be able to offer a site, not only for our members, but also for anyone interested in boating. The new site has been designed with this in mind and we hope the user will find it easy and fun to use'.

Chief Executive Rod Carr OBE said, 'The growth of the RYA website is a reflection of how popular boating has become in recent years. The hard work and dedication invested has resulted in an outstanding new website, which I hope will be enjoyed by many users in the months and years to come.'

The RYA wants your views so - If you have strong views on whether they have made changes for the better or worse, please give them your feedback by completing our 'Website Survey' on the site.
