Enterprise Worlds in Sri Lanka - Day 2

by Bob Southworth on 15 Feb 2006
Enterprise Worlds 2005 - Sri Lanka Enterprise Association UK http://www.sailenterprise.org.uk/
Victory for both the Pakistan crews at the second day of the 2005 Enterprise Worlds in Sri Lanka. The day started hot and sultry with hardly any wind, resulting in the race committee having to postpone the first race of the day for over an hour waiting for the wind conditions to improve.

Finally the wind settled at around 13:15 hrs., having swung around 150 degrees and picked up to a healthy 10 knots. The Race Committee opted for windward/leeward courses for both of the races, and after six general recalls in the first race the black flag removed six boats, which is reflected in the changes in the overall positions.

Finally underway, Zahid Rauf and Rana Wagas (PAK) won the first race of the day ahead of Richard Estaugh and Pete Rowley (GBR) with Sanjey Chouhan and Rajesh Dhulaji (IND) in third. In the second race, overnight leaders Mamoon Sadiq and Abdul Hameed (PAK) took the gun ahead of Estaugh and Rowley with Jeremy Stephens and Matt Johnson (GBR) third.

Overall Sadiq and Hameed were tied with Estaugh and Rowley who move to the top of the table after the discard kicked in. Estaugh and Rowley have a one point lead from Sadiq and Hameed with Stephens and Johnson third overall after dropping the OCS from the first race of the day.

Not a good day for top Indian pair Mahesh and Yadav, blown out on both starts they crash down to 18 overall.
