At the 0900 local time (2200 GMT) radio position sked movistar has moved into the lead, sailing thru the overnight leader Mike Sanderson’s ABN Amro One now two miles astern.
ABN Amro One is followed by the US boat Pirates of the Caribbean, is now eight miles further back, while Ericsson and Brazil 1 boats are fourth and fifth place.
In sixth and last place is the ABN Amro Two sixteen miles behind the leader.
Pedro Campos, CEO of the movistar team remains cautious ‘it is great news; it proves that the level of performance of the boat has improved after changing the hydraulic system, but it is too soon to really evaluate the results’.
