Raw Nerve runs south

Bass Strait - Raw Nerve 2005 Sydney Hobart speed attempt SW
It takes both Raw Nerve and luck to break records. A photo essay from the 17 metre Crowther catamaran as she blasted south to Hobart.
Raw Nerve had speed to burn for much of their southern passage, but once again the weather gate shut, as it has for many sailors over the last sixty years.
Martyn Riley and his five crew sailed out of Sydney last Thursday morning at 7am. For the first hours conditions were soft and their arrival time at Tasman Light was a fateful 8pm and by the time they'd crossed Storm Bay, the Derwent was closing down for the night. Not surprising really that they found themselves becalmed at John Garrow at 1am.
Interesting to speculate on their elapsed time, had they left Sydney at 1pm.
Here are images from their voyage, courtesy of crew member Tim Berg.
