RSYC Regatta 2005 starts in style

by Ho Shu Fen on 19 Jul 2005
Foxy Lady took a clear lead with two first places on the opening day of the RSYC Regatta 2005 Ho Shu Fen http://www.shufen.net
The RSYC Regatta 2005 opened with 33 boats making it to the start line in four classes: IRC A, IRC B, IRC C and PY.

The winds blew faithfully out of the southwest, ranging from 10-12 knots during the afternoon allowing two windward/leeward races to be conducted in Singapore's Southern Islands Raffles Reserve area.

In IRC A division, the positions for the two races were the same. Last year's winner, Foxy Lady skippered by Bill Bremner proved her dominance with two firsts.

Happy Endings skippered by Jonathan Mahony took second place and Thomas Bonehill who skippered Vertigo came in third.

In IRC B, Teko MDBS skippered by Bob Howison topped with fleet with a second and first place. The other Platu dropped her position after scoring an OCS for the second race. Abraxas skippered by Greg Coops came in second with a fourth and second placing beating third place Hannes Waimer skippering their new Force 24 from DK Yachts.

In the largest division, the IRC C with nine J-24s, RSYC Regatta veteran Juno helmed by Richard Ahl and Tim Tan scored two straight bullets. Hakuna Matata skippered by RSYC's Raphael Phang and Tim Hill caught up to be in second position. Jock skippered by Simon Davidson came in third.

Finally in the PY class, Burragah II skippered by Adam Fuller came in first twice, followed by Herman Van Den Wall Bake on Salt Rose. Tune Inn skippered by Richard Anderson maintained two third positions in two races.

It was a great day racing and we look for plenty more action next weekend.
