RS Aerocup – Malcesine, Lake Garda, Day 1

by RS Aero International Class Association on 24 Sep 2016
Per Christian of Norway dominates day 1 - 2016 RS Aerocup SBG Films
After a race briefing and a fantastic lunchtime opening ceremony spread, washed down by a couple of glasses of bubbly waiting for the afternoon breeze, racing got underway on time on a pristine blue sky day.

The regatta is being held at Malcesine, Lake Garda, Italy

Three great races were held with the breeze increasing from 12kn to 16kn in the southerly Ora.

Defending champion, Per Christian Bordal of Norway, is dominating the 7's series with six wins, but Geoff Carveth battled back taking out Race 3. Kristo Ounap of Estonia and Peter Barton of Great Britain are keeping in touch with a second and third each.

Estonia’s Liina Kolk holds a narrow lead from Great Britain’s Kate Sargent in the 5's. In the 9's Tomas Sandstrom of Sweden took the first race win before Ben Rolfe of Great Britain fought back to lead overnight.

The regatta has attracted 34 entries from 10 countries including two from Australia for the full entry list click here
