2016 Bacardi® Newport Sailing Week – Action will begin on Friday

2016 Bacardi® Newport Sailing Week – Looking forward to great weather and great sailing conditions, one-design sailing boats will be on Narragansett Bay to compete sixth Bacardi Newport Sailing Week (BMSW) presented by EFG.

The event begins on Friday, June 24, with Star Class, VX One, Ensign, Shields and Classic Day racer classes on the starting line for an intense weekend of racing. Tuesday and Wednesday with the Newport Yacht Club (NYC) Spring One Design Series and with the NYC Spring PHRF/Cruising Series. Newport Yacht Club Race Committee coordinates this year’s on the water activities.

Bacardi Newport Sailing Week is not only for the competition, but also the artistic and social aspect of sailing. Similar to year’s past, the Bacardi hospitality for Bacardi Newport Sailing Week will be set up at Newport Shipyard, where sailors will enjoy Bacardi Rum, food and music. Two special art exhibits, “Yesteryear Boatbuilding” and a Photo Exhibit by Cory Silken, Onne van der Wal, will be set up in Bowen’s Wharf and open everyday. In the Pipistrello Workshop, with the support of Wooden Boat Magazine, boat builder George Krewson will build a Shellback sailboat in one-week time.



The following establishments will feature Bacardi products and the unique Cuban Storm cocktail during Sailing Week for thirsty sailors and bar goers alike:
