Newcomer Brent Pearson from Keppel Bay Sailing Club leads the pack - 6th BCF Eastern States Impulse Championships Lea Foster
The sixth Eastern States Impulse Championships were generously sponsored by Boating Camping and Fishing (BCF) and were superbly hosted by the Big River Sailing Club, Harwood Island, over the ANZAC day long weekend.
The Impulse class continues to display it's growth in popularity, with a record fleet of 29 boats, for an Eastern States Championship, contesting the eight race series.
The regatta attracted many new faces and boats and competitors traveled from as far as the central coast of NSW to the central coast of QLD to contest in the closely fought series.
The regatta was held in mostly moderate Southerly conditions and short courses on the river ensured close racing.
Michael Brown, from Lake Macquarie, in his newly launched dinghy sports factory produced impulse has had a stella season, and added the Eastern States Championship to his collection of trophies this year which has included the Australian, NSW and QLD championships.
In second place was the consistently sailed 'Tarfun' sailed by David Mann from the Port Curtis Sailing club in Gladstone. Mann is only relatively new to the class and has shown continual improvement in results.
In third place was David Harrison sailing 'Cosmosoarus' from the Brisbane Sailing Squadron on the Brisbane River.
A record fleet is anticipated for the 33rd Australian Impulse Championships to be held at the Teralba Amateur Sailing Club, Lake Macquarie over the Christmas, New Year period 2016/2017.
