2016 Melges 20 Sailing Series - The second act of the 2016 Sailing Series® Melges 20 takes place this weekend in beautiful Porto Ercole, Italy and to commemorate, 40 teams have assembled for the start with all sights set on winning the top prize.

Some of the most watched teams in the fleet will be there including Portovenere Champion Richard Davis on Section 16, Matteo Marenghi Vaselli at the helm of Raya, and Guido Miani sailing Out of Reach representing Monaco. Also scheduled to appear are Michael Illbruck on Pinta, Achille Onorato aboard Mascalzone Latino, Alessandro Rombelli's STIG and of course, European Champion Dario Levi on Fremito D'Arja.

In the Corinthian corner, Portovenere Champ Wilma Homann on Fantastichina will go head-to-head with Simone Anichini's Hanneken and Florian Rixner's Mojito.

The #Melges20Next program carries on in Porto Ercole, an effort championed by Melges Europe and the Federazione Italiana Vela (Italian Sailing Federation). This gives helms under 30 the opportunity to race against the best-of-the-best in the fleet. The youthful talents of Matteo Puppo and Matteo Capurro (Junior European and Italian Champions) will take control of a Melges 20 this weekend.

The first day of racing commences on Friday (tomorrow), the first of three scheduled days of racing.
