Retirement at Marine Plus creates new partner opportunity

A partnership opportunity has been created at the Melbourne based marine distributor, Marine Plus, through the retirement of Doug Gandy.

Marine Plus is a long established business which has exclusive distribution rights to some of the best brands in the marine business. These include International Paints, AWL Grip, Muir, VDO, Hella, 3M, ICOM and Baltic with a string of other respected and complimentary agencies also on the books.

The company was established in 1993 and comprises three partners, Peter Hickey, George Fisscher and Doug Gandy. Marine Plus operates from a 600 M² site in Sandringham (Melb) with warehouse, dispatch and administration departments all contained on the one site.

However with Doug Gandy retiring after nineteen years as a partner and director of the business, the opportunity has presented to review and revamp Marine Plus. Doug’s departure represents a point of demarcation for Marine Plus.

The remaining partners, Peter Hickey and George Fisscher, are actively seeking a new partner to join them at Marine Plus. The partner may be active or silent. They may take up a one-third (or more) interest in the business, depending on their situation. An interest in boating or experience with the marine industry would be a benefit but it is by no means mandatory.

“While Doug is leaving us, he will remain available in a consultancy role for some time to assist during the transition period,” George Fisscher said.

The marine industry is showing signs of genuine growth and 2016 is a great time to introduce some new blood, fresh ideas and a new partner. Marine Plus is poised to capitalise on growth opportunities and a revitalised management team.

The success of Marine Plus is attributed to its quality of customer support, prompt delivery of products with a 95% fill rate and finally, the high calibre of brands represented.

“We pride ourselves on having 75 years of collective experience in the marine industry,” George Fisscher said. “Unlike some distributors, we actively represent our brands to our trade customers through personal relationships and direct customer representation.”

“This is a good time for a new partner to join us at Marine Plus and work with us as we evolve further.”

Full details concerning the partnership opportunity can be obtained in-confidence from George Fisscher. Contact at george@marineplus.com.au or by phone 0419 357 799.
