Iconic marine brand Line 7 is back in Australia

In line with new technology developments, Line 7 Marine now has a ground presence in Australia with a view to bringing the brand back into the hands and onto the backs of Australian yachties come April 2016.

The Charles Parsons Group, an Australian family owned textiles business with global reach, has brought the much loved Line 7 Marine brand back to Australia and back into its stable. After a period of management under a licensee, the move allows the group to put its full weight behind the brand’s success in line with the launch of a new range in April 2016.

Spurred by the development of innovative new materials - from quick dry fabrics through to cutting-edge Celliant technology which serves to increase performance and aid recovery - the announcement of Line 7’s return to Australian shores will also see another Australian marine stalwart return to represent the brand.

With 18 years in the marine apparel industry and a relationship with Line 7 that dates back to his management of their official merchandise licenses in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and 2003 Rugby World Cup, Duncan Curnow will return to once again respresent the brand in Australia.

An avid sailor himself with several Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races, Audi Hamilton Island, Airlie and Sealink Magnetic Race Weeks under his belt, Curnow speaks of rejoining the Line 7 crew with enthusiasm.

'Line 7 is back and I am thrilled to be a part of re-building a brand that has had such a long history with the Australian sailing community. With the infrastructure and support that the parent company offers and the revolutionary technological advances (of which Celliant technology fabric is our first release), I see Line 7 returning to the winners circle in no time.'

A much anticipated new marine range utilising the Celliant technology is set to help the wearer perform at their best while a new logo and new look are designed to make the brand born at sea, a shoreside favourite.

“There are a lot of echoes in our relaunch that speak organically to the very origins of the brand” says Line 7 business manager Danielle Lambert. “Originally started by a family business in 1963 with a strong culture of fostering the next generation of sailing, the brand is today being relaunched by a family business that is set to announce a raft of sponsorship agreements that support the sailing community at large. Reflective of Australasian ingenuity, the teachnology behind the cutting edge, hard wearing gear originally created in a garage was driven by a need to see clothes that go as hard as sailors do. Celliant technology will, today, again redefine what it means to give it heaps.”

The comment of Australian sailing legend, commentator and Olympic sailing coach, Rob Brown OAM, creates another resonant echo on hearing of the return of the brand.

'My long history with Line 7 is deeply embedded in competitive Aussie racing. As a team member of the winning 1983 Australian America's Cup team and as a tactician for the 2000 Young Australia team, I've gone hard in their wet weather gear to bring golds home. I'm looking forward to seeing an iconic brand return for another generation to wear.'

With stock available from April 2016 and a busy schedule of attendance at Australian and international boat shows and regattas, the heritage brand is set to make waves amongst sea-goers again with a strong focus on supporting the marine community once again.
