Micheal Brown- 2015/2016 Impulse Australian Champion Marina Hobbs
The 32nd Australian Impulse Championships were successfully conducted by the Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club, Paynesville, Victoria, between the 28th of December 2015 and the 3rd of January 2016.

A highly competitive fleet of 46 boats, which included five previous Australian Champions, took part in the regatta. Competitors traveled from NSW, QLD, VIC and SA to contest in conditions which were mostly comprised of moderate seabreezes.

Current NSW and QLD State Champion, Michael Brown, from South Lake Macquarie Amateur Sailing Club, NSW, added a record sixth Australian Championship to his impressive resume.

Brown was sailing a brand new dinghy sports factory produced impulse named 'Z' which was launched just prior to the regatta. In second place was class newcomer and former OK dinghy world champion, Glenn Collings sailing 'Spur of the Moment', from Victoria. In third place was current Victorian State Champion, John Gibson in his near new formula sailcraft factory produced impulse, 'Scuppers', from the Williamstown Sailing Club, Victoria.

The next major events on the Impulse calendar include the Victorian/Southern States Championships to be held at the Newhaven Yacht Squadron, Phillip Island, over the Victorian Labour Day long weekend, and the Eastern States Championships to be held at the Big River Sailing Club, Harwood Island, over the Anzac Day Long weekend.

The Impulse Class continues to see impressive growth with a record sized fleet anticipated for the 33rd Australian Championships to be held at the Teralba Amateur Sailing Club, Lake Macquarie over the Christmas/New Year period 2016/2017.
