The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta eagerly announces the first two bands confirmed to perform at the 2016 event. Orange Grove, a band with local St. Maarten roots and a regatta veteran, as well as Aruban band Honeypot are set to perform for the 36th regatta. These two bands have performed together in the past but it has been more than five years since they have been together at the regatta. The complete regatta schedule is still to be announced.

Orange Grove is currently putting the finishing touches on their next album and according to Michael, the bands lead singer, 'Although the album won't be completed by the time we perform at the regatta, we will treat the crowds to a handful of new songs. Additionally we will be recording video clips while on island and it could very well be that the audience will get a sneak peak of the latest clips.'

The band has also been extremely busy in the past year; most notably they have been working with German techno group Scooter. Scooter, Germans best selling artist ever, has sold over 80 million albums to date. Orange Grove has been co-writing their latest album, which will help give them worldwide exposure.

The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta has also signed on the Aruban based band Honeypot to perform in 2016. This rock-reggae band brings a fresh vibe to the mix and has been sharing the stage with international artists such as Third World, Beenie Man, The Wailers as well as Steel Pulse. 'Regatta fans will be treated to a Roots-Rock-Reggae Show for this upcoming 2016 regatta performance, which will include the old and also the brand new Honeypot tunes' said lead singer Cheyenne.

The bands collaborated back in 2003 and delivered a hit song 'Livin Easy' which quickly rose to become a major hit in Aruba. They both generate an island vibe that stirs your soul and their performances at the regatta in 2016 should be a highlight on the regatta schedule. The remaining artists will be announced in the coming months, so keep your eyes out for more announcements in the future.
