This weekend the Canberra Yacht Club will host the 2015 ACT Optimist Championships with a strong field of 90 boats already including a 30 boat green fleet.

The regatta this weekend will be held right off the Canberra Yacht Club which provides spectacular views of the racing for the spectators and volunteers. The New South Wales Optimist Association and the Canberra Yacht Club once again set the regatta to be very user friendly for the sailors with a two minute sail to the start line and super green fleet coach Lizzie Rountree available for all green fleet young sailors.

Race officer Jeremey Atkinson will once again be providing high quality race management in the tight Lake Burly Griffin race course.

Once again major sponsor Capital Insurance Brokers have provided fantastic support of the event which includes T-shirts, free lunches and heaps and heaps of prizes from Gill.

One special part of the regatta is a brand-new J sail will be pulled out of the hat for one lucky sailor at the presentation ceremony.

Canberra Yacht Club CEO Matt Owen is hoping for 110 boats to take part in the regatta and the offer of any interstate sailors requiring boats to use a large number of available Opti’s for free for those who have trouble getting to Canberra.

Conditions for the weekend looks fantastic with 10 kn of breeze and 25°.

Online entries and entry list can be found here.
