En terminant deuxième de La Generali Solo, Xavier Macaire se voit sacrer Champion de France Elite de Course au Large Solitaire. Tout au long de l’année 2015, sur les trois courses que compte le Championnat de France (Solo Maître CoQ, La Solitaire du Figaro - Eric Bompard cachemire et La Generali Solo), le Skipper Hérault a brillé par sa grande régularité aux avant-postes, notamment sur les étapes au large. Talentueux et réputé par ses concurrents « d’un mental d’acier », Xavier Macaire fait partie des grands favoris après seulement 4 ans sur le circuit Figaro Bénéteau.

Les premiers mots au ponton de Xavier Macaire :
« Mon titre de Champion de France me fait super plaisir, ca y’est ! J’avais toutes les raisons d’être champion de France, mais on ne sait jamais. C’est extraordinaire, c’est aussi un soulagement. Une énorme satisfaction. Après l’arrivée à Barcelone, je me suis dit que sur toutes les étapes au large de l’année, j’ai été très régulier aux avant postes. Je mérite de gagner ce tire, car je fais premier de la grande étape à La Solo Maître CoQ, à La Solitaire, je fais 5-2-3-5, à la Generali, je fais 2 et 2. Je suis content. Le projet avec le département de l’Hérault s’arrête pour moi. Ce sera un jeune qui se formera sur le circuit. Il va falloir que je trouve un sponsor mais avec mes résultats cette année, cela me donne une bonne assise pour que ça marche. L’aventure n’est pas finie, le but c’est d‘aller jusqu’au Vendée Globe 2020 ! »
