Ron Jacobs is a well-known expert in yacht racing. With over forty years’ experience, he has represented Australia internationally and project managed some of the most successful campaigns on the local and international circuit.

After establishing Sydney based brokerage and new boats sales company Performance Boating Sales seventeen years ago, he has decided it is time to move on and sell his share to co-director Lee Condell.

“Lee and I have worked together for twelve years as co-directors of Performance Boating Sales. The future of the company and the clients are in very capable hands,” said Jacobs.

Now returning his focus and expertise to the race and yacht management area, Jacobs will offer a refreshing approach as he works closely with yacht owners and their crews to improve their overall performance.

By firstly evaluating the client’s goals, he will work with them to set an appropriate budget and then advise them with a strategic plan to achieve the desired result.

Developing skills such as crew work, sail trim, tactics, rig tuning, boat preparation, and sail selection are all part of the overall service provided. The clients will see a guaranteed improvement in their yacht and teams performance.

Ron Jacobs Performance will also be representing leading international marine companies North Sails and carbon rig manufactures Hall Spars.

Jacobs has faith in these prove companies to supply the best products available. “Having the correct shaped sails set on a correctly tuned rig driving your yacht is an extremely important aspect of your yachts performance,” he said.

Jacob’s experience spans forty years of yacht racing starting in the mid 70`s where he represented Australia at local and international Half and One Ton Cup regattas.

In 1980 he started working with Fraser Sails, before moving on to project managing some of the most successful racing yachts in Australia including Sagacious, Beyond Thunderdome, “97”, Quest and Exile.

Achievements such as outright wins and line honours in the Sydney to Hobart, and multiple podium finishes at many high profile regattas are all testament to his versatility, passion and commitment to yachting.
