August is fast approaching, and we are gearing up for more great regattas at CORK! With a total of 16 event days and five different regattas, Kingston’s Fresh Water Sailing Festival will be buzzing with excitement all through August. The early bird deadline for all CORK events is this Friday, July 31st! Don’t forget to register before the competitor fee increases!

The first event kicking off CORK’s August series is the CORK International Optimist Regatta, with registration Aug 6th - seventh and racing Aug 7th - ninth. Over 100 optimist sailors aged seven - fifteen will travel to Kingston to race. This regatta will provide an opportunity for young sailors to compete for the first time, as the fleet will be split into a race division and a green (beginners) division.

Following the Optimist Regatta is the 2015 CORK International Regatta, with registration Aug 9th, and racing Aug 10-13. The event will host Laser Standard, Radial, Laser 4.7, Club 420, 29er, Techno 293, RSX Board and RS:X. It will be the Sail Canada Youth Championships presented by Volvo, for the Laser, Radial, Club 420, 29er, and RS:X, and the under 17 Canadian Championships for Laser 4.7 and Techno 293. This is a primary selection event for the 2015 Canadian Youth World Team, and the 2015 ISAF Youth World Championships. This event will also be the RSX Board North American Championships and the Techno 293 North American Championships. In total over 450 sailors will congregate in Kingston from August 9 – 13 for four days of action packed racing.

CORK’s Olympic Classes Regatta will host over 140 Laser, Radial, 49er, 49erFX, I14, and Finn sailors from Aug 14-19. For the Laser male and Radial female fleets, this will be an ISAF 100 point event, and for the Laser and Radial Open classes, this will be the North American Grand Prix Event. The I14 fleet will race for three days, and compete for the North American Champion Title. The Finn fleet will also be competing for the North American Title. For the Laser, Radial, 49er, 49erFX and Finn fleets this event is the Sail Canada Senior Championships presented by Volvo, with four days of racing.

During the Olympic Classes Regatta, CORK will also host 200 international youth sailors for the 2015 Laser Radial Youth World Championships, running Aug 14-20. This event will welcome over 35 Nations, with five intense days of racing on Kingston’s Fresh Waters.

We also encourage the family and friends of sailors to volunteer at CORK this August. This is a great opportunity to get in on the action, learn new skills and make new friends!

Don’t forget to register before the early bird deadline Friday, July 31st!
